It's a small and beautiful island but you have to rent electric bike, bicycle or golf cart to roam around .If you have your own bicycle you can bring along with you in ferry they may charge some extra bucks for bicycle and try to check this facility will booking tickets. We rented golf cart and was able to finish all places within 2 hours.
Bicycle's you can rent on hourly bases or full day better to go for full day there is no much difference. While golf cart maximum time is 2 hrs they will rent for just 2 hrs but you will be able to complete within 2 hrs. And you will be having lots of water rides such as Parasailing, kayaking, submarine and many more check it out. Lastly before booking tickets first check on groupon website, so that you can save some bucks. One day is more than enough.

I visited Avalon in Catalina Island. There are small pier, many shops, and restaurants. You can do activities that you like. Everything is opened. You may wanna take a tour of the island by driving golf cart. 4 passengers cart is $60 per hour with max 2 hours and 6 passengers cart is $80 now. You can see beautiful view when you get up there. Small hotels are available as well. You will like this place

We loved our visit to this island. It is very picturesque and relaxing. It doesn’t feel like it is so close to LA and San Diego!!

First time visit to Catalina!
Easy chill ferry ride to the island and short walk to the main part of town!

The town itself is very cute — golf carts and smart cars rolling about colorful little shops right on the water’s edge. The weather this time of year (January) is a little cool if walking in the shade so I’d definitely recommend bringing a jacket (I didn’t lol).

Go to the first golf cart rental place that you see getting off of the ferry. They have a special that you can rent the cart for 2 hrs and get your 3rd hour free. The lady working there is super cool and it is such a fun way to see and get around the island, definitely recommend.

Also, for even someone like myself that is not a morning person I’d recommend checking the time of the sunrise and waking up 15 min prior to see some spectacular colors! So worth!

I would not come to Catalina expecting amazing faire — I was not impressed with any of the food although I will say Sandtrap/Bluewater Grill/Luau Larry’s were my favorite spots!
