La Descarga Reviews

This place used to be a classic and stand up place. They don’t do anything they used to do. The whole personal touch and good times are no more. Bouncers all have a power trip like they’re working at one of the top places in LA. The workers only care about hitting on and playing favorites with girls. It’s inappropriate and unprofessional place.

Valet will charge you at the beginning so you're committed to going in beforehand. $20 cover charge comes next. I then ordered an $18 Cuba Libre that came with white rum for some reason and was made with lime juice that was squirted out of a bottle. Can't be bothered to squeeze a lime? Inside decor is like every other old style Cuban bar. There are a 1000 themed bars like this in the world with better drinks and service. My wife and I spent $100 in ten minutes and walked out the door. Pretty bad time from start to finish. The place needs to step it's game up considerably to justify its cover charge and drink prices. Put a little effort into making the drinks at least.

The is my favorite place to go party in San Francisco whenever I'm there. They play great reggae and African songs and its always a party inside. It gets crowded in a good way. The drinks are good. Just an awesome and good vibes SF scene kinda place. I love it.

Asked for reservations 1 week in advance, we’re frequent patrons and have never been turned away. $20 parking non-refundable, we parked 3 cars for $60 just to be turned away. No one was in line, 6 cop cars outside. Things have definitely changed for the worse at this location.

Saturday night I rounded up a few of my girlfriends for wine tasting at my all time favorite wine bar, La Descarga in LA. I know, I know, I've already posted multiple times about this place but each time I go I find it's like a fine wine and just gets better with age. Something that helps? Going often enough to be remembered by the wine reps behind the counter. For example, it was fun walking up to Alexis at Fritz Winery and introducing her by name to each of my friends. Ray and everyone at Press Club did such a PHENOMENAL job hosting and making us feel welcome. I'd been in touch with them since my last visit and they reserved an area for my friends and me with a complimentary bottle of wine. When Ray brought out my favorite white wine at Press Club, Hanna's 2009 Sauvignon Blanc, I was so touched yet baffled -- how did they know it was my favorite?! My bf surmised that they probably looked up my payment history to see what I'd ordered before. Ah-ha, that would do it since I usually make a beeline for Hanna to start with a glass there. Well done, PC, and what a treat to have an entire bottle to share with my friends! Thanks!

I could see myself being here if I had to, I don't typically gravitate towards the bourgeoisie wine scene but if I were, this place would suit well for the taste. It's more upbeat than a lot of wine bars, has a dark ambiance but still retains a lively feel with music pumping from overhead speakers. Wine is more expensive than most places, but how else will they finance the lovely decor. Didn't try the food. Nice place to keep in the back pocket for a third date or after thought after dinner.

Its wonderful that this wine bar is very large and you can have a big group without feeling like you are occupying half of the place. For those "non alcoholic" drinkers, they have wine grape flavored sodas which are really delicious (and seemingly only available in CA).

I was in town for the weekend and met a couple of friends (shout out to Lauren S.) who live in the Bay area here for happy hour.

The space is beautiful - very chic! We arrived at 5p and it was on the quiet side and we decided to take a seat at the bar. The wine menu is thoughtful and not overwhelming, which I appreciate. Price points to accommodate everyone's budget were also noted. I first ordered a red and white wine pairing and then a glass of Miner Sangiovese. I particularly enjoyed the Sangiovese.

My companions and I went to this club to party. The beverages were truly reasonable. The margarita was so heavenly and not really watery. The bouncers were exceptionally mindful after watching the group. The DJ plays a decent assortment of music. Much thanks to you, folks, we partook in our evening.

This club offers not just delicious food but also the best drinks in the city! It is our routine to come here every Saturday and have some shots after heavy loads of work at the office. We've been here for years now and we are loyal to them ever since. Their bartenders were very good and talented, too. Great place!
