The Mayan Reviews

Overall Rating

The Mayan is exactly what San Francisco needs, an awesome swanky venue to lounge and have great wine. This place takes the city to another level of Sophistication. The interior design also deserves 4 stars, what they did with wood and cement is amazing. It's modern, but super cozy.

Visited the Mayan to enjoy the presentation of Lucha Va Voom! Such an incredibly classy/rauncy/hilarious show. This venue is so gorgeous on the inside and very well themed. I only wish I took more photos. The layout is great for the show down below amd seating on the tiered steps is comfortable. There are several bars throughout the venue, so it is convenient to get a drink wherever you are. Drinks are a bit pricey ($15 Jameson/ginger). Metal detectors and security upon entrance for safety. We were granted access to the club following the show, but left. We even saw Joseph Sikora who was there to enjoy the show!

I went out with a group of friends this past Saturday night. Wanted to check this place out, but when we arrived at the door the bouncers greeted us with hostility. They told us that they had a dress code, but when we asked what it was they just said “read the sign.” All of our dress was in compliance with the sign that they had posted, but they still said no entry? I’m disappointed in this establishment because it seemed to us that they discriminate against minorities. I’m glad that we did not go inside because if the vibes on the outside are bad, then that definitely tells me something about the inside! Please beware!

Was there for Grupo Niche last night and it was clear the event organizers oversold the capacity. I just want to know why a space that big only has ONE SINGLE STALL bathroom for women on the main floor? The wait was an hour long and security was taunting rather than redirecting us to other bathrooms while men breezed in and out. Also didn’t let any women use them when asked. Security was also rude. I had VIP tickets and asked which line I was supposed to go in, and he forced me into GA that wrapped around the building even after looking at my ticket. Took three hours for the feature to start, and another 30 minutes for it to sound good. Horrible venue.great show eventually

The Mayan, nice classy environment but the music is way too loud. The crowd is mixed when I arrived I saw someone leaving dressed in sweats now Im not saying you have to be in 6 inch pumps but at least jeans and some casual shoes. It was difficult to find from Market Street but then again my GPS was acting up. Its a nice place for wine before you head to dinner or if you just want to enjoy a glass after work if you dont mind the loud music.

I was only here for a few minutes. The staff was really nice from the time I walked in until the time I left. (The only reason I left was because one of the hosts of the event I went to was a rude cow, so I left. If I could rank them they'd get one star, but that has no impact on the folks who work at the The Mayan.)

This is a great, elegant bar/lounge. Great for socializing in a sophisticated environment with friends. Cheapest beer is $7, and glass of wine $12. Not cheap. This had a chance of being a 5 for me in the city, but the lady bartender gave me some attitude after I asked her how much a glass of rose costs. Wasn't even for me.

Now a few gripes: right now the 8 wineries they have there are all top notch, but I was under the impression the wineries leasing the space would have a turnover rate about once every 6 months to a year. I asked around and it turns out they'll all be there for 5 years before anything changes! That feels like waaay too long for me. I mean it's cool to go to a couple of times, but you'll start to get a little bored without increased selection.

Traveled from Chicago to see AURORA here back to back. Obviously, those were beautiful shows.

However, I was impressed by this venue. It such a a beautiful place and the staff are really good on reminding people in the crowd to keep the mask on. They also managed the sold out queues so well that it was easy and safe to get into the venue.

Went to see a AURORA w SHAED concert here. The format was general admission, with the lower level floor and bar area standing room only. The upper levels had seating. Beautiful venue! Makes you feel like you've been transported to a Mayan temple in Central America!
