Very fun, French pop nights are awesome, played from real analog records.

I've been here on david bowie night ???? and it was a good time. They're strict on having a vaccine card so that was a buzz killer for me. I know people rlly care about that so if you're very cautious this place takes it seriously.

The atmosphere is awesome. This little place gets crackin. It is small and outdated though. Drinks are very basic.

Basics: You have to give up your credit card upon entering so you can get a Grand Star Jazz Club (a card that tracks your purchases throughout the night). There are eight wineries: Miner, Fritz, Hanna, Saintsbury, Pahlmeyer/Jayson, Landmark, Mt. Eden and Chateau Montelena. Each winery offers from 3-12 tastings at $4-22 per taste. It's 1/2 a block from Powell BART (super convenient).

Bathroom: Let's hear it for clean bathrooms! Yay! 3 stalls and a spacious, clean room. Always good to find in a bar yet somewhat rare.

I hosted a private event at Grand Star Jazz Club during a conference, and cannot say enough thank yous to Whitney and team for their help. She completely understood what we were trying to accomplish, and put a great team in place. The bar itself was very busy with the after work crowd, adding to the guests experience.Whitney helped put together an excellent assortment of wines to accommodate an unknown crowd, and the team was quick to support any changes/add-ons as needed. I was lax in my own follow up for remaining materials, and once again Whitney and team were patient and on the spot. Thanks Grand Star Jazz Club! We'll be back for another event soon.

Love this spot. Awesome atmosphere, selection of wines, music, small plates to eat, and wait staff. Urban touch mixed with a bit of class. You won't be disappointed.

An ok spot, only attended gath/EBM type events here. Probably historic but don't see it.

Divey throwback club with lots of 80s music, mood lighting and spacious ambience. Not too many places to sit but plenty to learn. There is a bar area right at the main entrance and another upstairs they open later in the evening. It's a 10 minimum for card and you'd have to close out down stairs to move your tab upstairs or vice versa. Drinks at great though small and served in disposable plastic cups. Bathrooms are nice a enough and the music is fire. Not sure if there is always a cover but definitely for holiday weekends for sure.

Attended a David Bowie themed event on Friday. Charges three dollars for bottled water, 14 for a long island ice tea. I think that's about usual cocktail price, but this is the first club I've been to that didn't have tap water so...
The vibe was good, the event makeup artist (@artbymiho on Instagram) was excellent, the music both upstairs and downstairs seemed to avoid playing more well known hits but the volume levels and bpm were much better than other events I've been to lately. Loud enough to lose oneself in, but not so loud that conversation is impossible, nor enough to cause pain/damage. Thank heavens.
It's also a little embarrassing to misspell the name of your talent on your event flyers, but hey, accidents happen, right?
