The Eight Bar Reviews

This is a pretty cool bar, NEXT TO--while still being a part of-- a grocery store. You can get the "bar validation" here, so you won't have to worry about being charged more for an extended stay. The bar validation is good for three hours, so it extends your regular validation to three hours instead of one. . .I believe.

The menu is varied, they don't have a traditional happy hour, however, they do have their daily specials, which usually includes an entree and beer for $10. Pretty good deal, I'd say.

Wine list a somewhat lacking, but perhaps that's only in comparison to the extensive beer selection ON TAP.

Great bar, great spot to sit down, relax, and watch the game; maybe even socialize?

Reviewing drinks and facilities only. There is a bar, communal tables in the center, and counter-like seating along the windows where you can people watch. They have food available for ordering and eating in.

They sell mixed cocktails in a can. It was $5 for the margarita, can easily get two pours from the can. They have alcohol behind the bar but I'm not sure if the bottles are for display only or if they pour shots, it wasn't clear to me.

Hate to say that the restrooms were not very clean. The ones in WF are waaaay cleaner and you don't need a code to get into the john.

I used to come here 3-5 times a week when I lived in Downtown L.A. for 7 yrs. But the pandemic send me to greener pastures less crowded with a garden. The food is very good & insanely affordable alot of happy hour deals under 15$, even under 10$. Personally not into alcohol, but it looks like that seems to be affordable, to. Imagine my shock when today I went with my son took a few pictures of the menu that seemed updated. & went to sit outside with the 8$ creme Brule 6$ slice of cake 3$ lemonade 2$ water I just purchased at Whole Foods. While I was savoring my desert a person who works inside approached me telling me we can't sit on the patio. I looked confused "I just spend 20$ at whole foods. ' Oh yeeh, you can sit on the patio downstairs '. The patio was EMPTY - 50 sits EMPTY except for another patron consuming a glass of alcohol that he obviously purchased there. It shouldn't be a big deal. Except that 1. She wanted me to move to an area that is not blocked of by a fence where any passerby can cough on my food. 2. She interrupted me half way through my desert.-ruining my experience. 3. It NEVER acured to her to offer proper custumer service & inquire / offer for me to purchase food there. Which I actually was considering until I was made to feal like I don't belong there. I was so shocked that I left in disgust. I was about to review the food here & post the specials. But no one should be treated this way. The VIBE is GONE.

Tim, Alfredo, and the rest of the staff were amazing. This being our first visit Tim was very patient and walked us through the entire menu. Food and drinks were amazing. Definitely coming back.

Update: Definitely lost service.

The place has a multitude of daily specials including beer and wings Mondays and taco Tuesdays.

Huge selection of draft beers on tap and cocktails made to order. I always grab a bite before going shopping at whole foods. They park for 2 or 3 hours therefore you will have enough time to grab a bite and go grocery shopping.

Went from Great to Ok.

Love this casual spot to grab a drink/snack! Super convenient because it's located right beside Whole Foods so I can get my grocery shopping done too.

They have a great beer selection and their food has surpassed my expectations. My absolute favorite item on the menu is their dry rubbed chicken wings. They always come out hot, fresh and crispy, perfectly salt and peppered. About 12 smaller wings and drums, which makes me happy because I usually don't love those giant chicken wings.

They also serve brunch! My boyfriend had the Angeleno bowl with hash browns, pulled pork, poached eggs. Flavors were good but wish the hash browns weren't on the bottom because they got soggy. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which had a good kick. Overall I think it's a decent sandwich but I don't know if I'd order it again.

They have 4-5 TVs at the bar and more mounted throughout so it's a great spot to catch games as well!

A nice place to have a pint, watch a game or hust chill while the better 1/2 shops at Whole Foods...
Or, if single....all the above either before or after shopping at Whole Foods.
Great beer tap selection, and decent food.
A great place to take a break...

Not a bad little pub - it's tagged on to whole foods so you can get some snacks from whole and beers from here. They have around 30 beers on tap so I am sure you will find something you like and salads, burgers and some other pub grub.
Had the salad and added chicken which was ok.

Definitely geared towards whole food customers. With local California beers on tap, decent selection of wines and lots of sprits to choose from. Don't expect a anything more then a cookie cutter environment, but the food especially the calamari set the bar above the adverage downtown LA bar. Still feels a bit out of place, but the bar tenders seemed knowledgeable and nice. I would recommend it to grab a bite to eat and pregame before a night out. Some of the drinks and food are a bit pricey, but happy hour seems give a decent decent discount.
