The Coffee Company Reviews

Established in 1978, this is a Los Angeles icon. When you eat here, you are stepping into an important historical mainstay that we hope will always remain that way.

We came here on a self guided tour through the LA Conservatory called Rolling Through the 70s in a concerted effort to really get to know the city we call home. And that knowing starts with appreciating the rich and diverse history of this incredible city. So often in LA, we show up somewhere to eat without really knowing what we are experiencing. I probably would have done the same here if I didn’t understand what I was coming to see.

We grabbed a couple coffees and we’re off but best believe we’ll be back for the real deal experience. I could tell by the long lines and smiling faces of the customers that this place will not disappoint.

This breakfast joint lives up to the billing. Great for brunch on the weekend but reservation is needed unless one is prepared to wait for a table. Service is speedy once seated and the menu is extensive if a bit pricey. If one's idea of a hearty breakfast includes seafood, The Coffee Company offers plenty of options.

This is actually one of the good brunch places in LA and a perfect place to stop by if you're landing in LAX in the morning. However, our experience has been hit or miss, last time being one of the very bad ones when I took my friend. Food came decently quick given how busy they were. I got a French toast combo which is one of the popular items. French toast was partially dipped in the egg making it dry considering $20 for a plate. I forgot to take a pic of the whole plate but I took pic of my French toast which will tell how bad it was. I didn't send it back, because it's common sense how fresh toast should be. Remaining items were good - chicken sausage, skillet, pancakes, and coffee.
The worst part of the experience was the server and the other staff being on our face giving us hint to leave. We waited for 50 min to get the table which is understandable for Saturday. We were half way done through when we got our check and while we were still eating and drinking coffee our server hovered around us and asked us how we were doing 20 times when she only stopped by once after serving the food. I worked as a server when I was in school and I understood the importance of having tables turn around quickly on weekend and I respect that. But I was still eating pancakes and had coffee refill and it was so uncomfortable how much they hovered around us and kept hinting way too much to the point we started feeling nervous. So we finally left before actually being done.
Their management needs to pay attention to this. When people wait for 40 min to an hour to get a table, you need to respect that they want to have a good time and most importantly finish their meal and drinks.
Will we be going back? Well very doubtful.

I RECOMMEND this place!

I came to this "The Coffee Company" at 8751 La Tijera Blvd, Westchester, CA 90045 to eat lunch. It was 12 O'Clock and the place was very bussy.

The menu was nice and had many options. There wasn't any pictures of any meal on the menu.

I ordered "Fresh spinach & mushroom omelette", price $17 with a cup of coffee and toast.

Altough the place was full with customers, the coffee was served within 5 min after I placed the order, less than 12 min later the omelette was served, and the the toasts came 2 min later.

The amount of salt in the omelette was very low and I could add more salf myself if needed, compare to many other restaurantes that adding to much salt in the food.

The only issue was the mix of potato, caramelized onion and tomato sauce which I didn't like. It didn't taste good and could been better made.

Total score: RECOMMANDED!

Here are some pictures I took.

Best fluffy blueberry pancakes. Happy I was in the area and had the opportunity to try this place out. I didn’t have my vaccine card on me so we had to eat outside. It was a little chilly but I didn’t mind. The food was worth it. They were busy so our waiter didn’t have time to come back by and check on us but I seen he had about 10 tables so it’s understandable. The wings that came with my griddle combo were delicious as well.

Stopped here because of the reviews and how close it was to the airport. The food was ok, not worth the price IMO. my Lox bagel came "deconstructed" (not matching the photo) and I asked for a plain bagel but got an everything one- just ate it cause it wasn't that big a deal and they were obviously understaffed. It's basic diner food, nothing fancy, nothing different from any other diner you've been too. If that's what you're going for- great! If you're looking for a small mom&pop shop feel with unique food offerings you won't find elsewhere- this is not it. Nothing wrong with that, just make sure you go in with the right expectations.

This is a great place for brunch. I stopped here based on reviews before catching my flight out of LA and really loved it. I took the lox platter with a side of spicy sausage and their potatoes. The potato was very tasty and the lox was very good. My wife took the spicy sausage omelette with a cappuccino and that was great as well. Highly recommend this place.

Breakfast was a lobster omelette with avocado, what can I say? Delicious, little pricey, but not bad. And they have apple butter in packets...pancakes were light and fluffy. Enjoyed this meal a great deal! Would definitely return for more...

It’s a vibe. Alcohol for breakfast!? Why not.

The wait is long. That’s what got me in to check this place out. Expect a wait during peak hours.

The food prices were expensive for breakfast. They charge you for everything, a latte that is 3.75 goes up in price if you add a syrup, milk or additional shot to $6+ because everything is an additional cost. This continues throughout the entire menu.

It didn’t feel that clean and our table was crowded with unnecessary condiments which also looked a bit dirty.

The food was good though, the waitress told me that everything is made fresh. They include wings in their lineup that I would check out again.

They play great classics. So good music throughout your meal.

Disclaimer - I only give 5 stars to places that are truly 5 starts so that doesn’t mean the 3 stars means don’t go. I think it’s worth checking out and a great breakfast place in the area albeit how expensive it is.
