Strange ordering process when outside at tables. You need to order and pay on an app and then about 15 minutes later a random server brings food out and calls your name to look for you. Very disorganized.

This place is absolutely divine. We sat outside under a marquee in the sun. The food was perfect as were the kombuchas and the owner, Dean, was an absolute delight, taking time to serve us personally, sit and talk. He also owns The Village Idiot on Melrose, so I can’t wait to go there too. Will definitely visit again.

I've walked by this place many times and finally decide to stop by pay a visit. The burger was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. The indoor seating was nice and atmospheric. Cool spot to catch up with a friend.

Years ago, this place held a secret place in my heart. Returning post covid - I had the worst experience, sat with dinner menus but after 30 minutes, no server approached so I finally asked for water and asked to order at the bar. The waiter provided water immediately, but said the kitchen had closed 20 minutes before. Irritated but trying to chalk it up to a misunderstanding, I ordered two cocktails and closed out. They were WAY too sweet, myself nor my partner could drink them. Came back the next night, staffing does not seem to be an issue but the service did not improve, never got our dinner, just walked out after being sat in the back by the bathrooms when no one checked on us for over 40 minutes. This place totally lost cool points with me now :(

Burgers are soooooooooo good. Was weirdly busy for 5p on a Friday…had to sit at the bar which was fine but no outdoor seating avail on their newly finagled parking lot patio.

Service was very good! Servers fantastic! However, for what you get everything was very overpriced.
-Bloody Mary's were very watery.
-Fish Sandwich was mushy with little flavor. You can tell it was frozen, dethawed, then deep fried. Bun was burnt
-Michelada was also very watery

Prices are very high for what you get. $14 for a sub par Michelada's left me fairly dissatisfied. Price would have been okay if they knocked it out of the park.

Used to love this place, but the new outdoor situation is a disappointment. The ordering is completely electronic — there’s no one to answer questions about the menu, yet you’re required to pay a service charge on top of a tip. The food comes on paper and the craft cocktails come in cheap plastic cups — this might be nice if they were serving cheap food and simple drinks, but it kinda ruins their high-quality fare. They served us a $20+ martini ($16 + $1 service fee + tax + tip) in a plastic cup filled with ice. ???? Upon ordering another round, we tried to order a drink that would be more successful in a plastic cup (but would never be served over ice). The online ordering software has no space for requests, so one of us walked inside to ask how to order a craft cocktail without ice. Two guys said to check off the “chilled “ box for no ice (versus “with ice” or “neat”), so we ordered it “chilled.” Another $20 later, we were served another drink filled with ice, and when we asked about it, the server laughed and said we had ordered it “chilled.”

If that’s the service they’re offering, then create a separate, casual, price-appropriate outdoor menu that’s more in line with the space and presentation. Don’t offer some of the city’s best, most expensive craft cocktails and serve them in plastic cups over ice.

As it stands, it feels like Black Cat is suffering from personality disorder. We’re thrilled they seem to be thriving during the pandemic, but our recent experience left us feeling swindled.

Snacks and drinks were good. Patio seating is nice, but it’s the only option.

I did not like the very limited service, that the drinks are served in PLASTIC cups, and food was served in to-go style plates. Felt like a picnic.

“LGBT friendly” but not brown people friendly. Arrived as a party of two, checked in with the host and sat at a table. We waited 15 minutes and servers passed by us multiple times with no greeting. Two parties arrived after us and sat around us. When we noticed that both parties already had their drinks, we walked out. We even confirmed with the hostess the ordering method, and we weren’t wrong. No wonder we were the only Latinos there. Also, tables are really wobbly.

I adore this place. I love the decoration, the crew members are polite and friendly, and the location is fantastic. They have a decent list of wines and plenty of cocktail options. Never eaten anything from there but I saw different dishes and they look great. Small outdoor area!
