Sound Nightclub Reviews

I have loved going to Sound for so many years. Our friend group has been to countless shows, but we had an absolute nightmare of an experience there on Friday, December 17th for my birthday. I rarely write reviews, but felt this was necessary so that people are aware if they decide to go. (STOLEN ITEMS & DRUGGED).

Sound no longer checks bags when you enter through security, which is already very bizarre for a music venue these days. The security is very very very minimal when you enter, and with all the crime going on in LA is very much not okay. It's unsettling. We should feel safe when we want to go enjoy music.

(STOLEN ITEMS) We had a group of about 50 friends going to Sound this past Friday and 8 of us had our phones stolen and 1 wallet within a window of about 15 minutes. As soon as we started realizing our phones were gone, they were all immediately turned off. We ran to security, and they said there was little they could do, but to show us where it happened. They should have been checking people as they left the venue at that point.

After speaking with all of our friends and collecting stories, we all realized there were 2 girls snaking through our friend group and apparently 2 girls left Sound with large juicy couture bags we later found out probably all containing our stolen items.

(DRUGGED) Furthermore, at least 3 of my friends were most definitely drugged that night (waiting to hear if anyone else in our group had a similar situation). Two girl friends and one guy friend (but his drink was originally intended for his gf, but she said it tasted so bad so he drank it instead - he's also a bigger guy). They each said their drinks tasted pretty bad, but chalked it up to just cheaper alcohol. Not long after they had their drinks, all 3 completely blacked out (they said it hit them like wave), they each threw up and had to go home. All 3 friends don't remember a thing after that drink and were acting very very weird. They are also very very responsible humans who said they didn't have that much to drink beforehand.

All I gotta say, is please please be careful. We're currently in touch with Sound regarding this mess, but we've all made the decision that until they tighten up security and have better practices in place, we will no longer be going there.

Fantastic venue with a great music. The staff works long hours and deserves respect for their efforts. Drinks were also reasonably priced. The DJ spins a wide range of music to keep the partygoers entertained. This club was a blast for me. I will tell my friends about this!

The staff here needs replacement asap. The bartender was constantly looking down on me. reminded me multiple times that I didn’t leave him a tip. I was desperately buying a 5$ water bottle.

Not a fan of club. Overpriced for the size and music isn't the best for life in area. Maybe with a different DJ and different security. However due never officially feeling the party life of LA. Was kind of a walk out feeling. Also spot is a bit racist, may be the music but being African American didn't make me feel safe.

If you’re an audiophile you’re going to love how it sounds in here. I come here about 4x a month to hear various DJs (Joris Voorn, Sabo, Goldcap, Victor Ruiz, etc) and have never had a bad time. Best sound system in LA.

Perfect lighting too. Most other venues are either too dark or too bright. This is just right.

Amazing club, but there's no room to dance because they sell to capacity when only a fraction of the space is used for a dancefloor. This is actually dangerous because it makes the crowd uncomfortable and aggressive. I've been clubbing for more than two decades and know there can be a balance, but Sound seems willing to sacrifice the quality of their amazing audio/visual experience and bookings for a bit of extra profit by overselling. They really need to evaluate their approach to account for more space on the dancefloor and quite frankly the safety of their guests.

We have been to Sound dozens of times, and it was one of our favorite clubs in LA. Great sound and lighting. It's best when it's medium full, like on a week night. On packed nights it tends to get a little too basic, bro-ey, and hot. The crowd tends to be decent otherwise, for the most part neither trashy nor pretentious. The club is about mid-range in terms of class, and drinks are about average for Hollywood. The bartenders and bouncers have all been very friendly to us.

Our experience was soured last time when an old lady at the door arbitrarily denied entrance because of my tank. I literally exclusively wear tanks going out and have never had a problem getting in at Sound. If that's the direction Sound is going, we won't be returning.

I went to Sound nightclub last night with my two friends. When we were walking through the dance floor I felt someone reach in my pocket and STEAL my phone. Many other people there had their phones and wallets stolen last night too.
Security needs to be checking bags and belongings.
Ruined my night …
No one could help me and the security is extremely minimal.
Not a safe environment for women either.
I will NOT be going back :(

It was fun. They also have a patio at the back to get some air. I recommend anyone to buy a ticket online because they charge double if you buy at the entrance.
