Really cool spot, with delicious food and a tasty mocha. This is a cool place to go eat breakfast and then go check out the flowers shops in the area.

My fav spot for chicken and waffles! I especially loved their buttermilk fried chicken, it's moist, tender, and juicy. Waffles were fluffy and really good with the syrup too. They also have a good amount of brunch options for you to choose from. Such as, pulled pork hash, shrimp and grits, biscuits+gravy, poppy burger, cobb salad, and so many more. As for the cocktails, I enjoyed their rose mojito, and coffee was mostly good too. Downside? It's located in a not so safe looking area of DT. But, we still keep coming back. We enjoy the food there. They have outdoor dining at the top of the parking structure next door, but require reservations!

Note:
They only open from 9am-3pm

The workers are so sweet , our waiter was Dre, our reservation was for 11:45 am you have to come 15 mins early to check in. It's a popular spot so there people waiting to be called in . Must have a 3 day covid test or vacc card to sit and eat . The manager was extremely accommodating to my mother because she had a walker . The food was great, the hash brown were huge as shown in the picture below. You have a 90 minute eating time. The rooftop is currently closed . So all seating is down stairs . I would highly recommend this experience. They also have food for vegetarians, parking is around the corner on maple $8 parking, affordable our food was 53.00 for two people

First time visiting and I was not disappointed. Loved that it was near the flower district. Eating breakfast put me in a good mood and gave me a reason to go shopping for flowers that I didn't know I needed. Grits were amazing, none of that box stuff. Ordered chicken and waffles and enemy I tell you that waffle was heaven sent. OMG. So fluffy and when that butter hit it with that maple syrup, me trying to explain it does not do it justice. That chicken was seasoned just right, so juicy. The atmosphere reminded me of my great grandmothers kitchen down south. Very warm and inviting. The only thing I didn't like was the restroom wasn't really attached to the restaurant, it was in the back down a hallway that could be used for shoppers in the market next door. And it was not the cleanest. But that's not really a reflection on the restaurant itself since they are separated.

I tried the Poppy Grain bowl and it was BOMB!! I ordered it without the egg, plant based person here lol. But it was so flavorful and the first bite truly won me over!!

My expectation for this place was very high but I was absolutely disappointed. When we first walked in, we didn’t get greeted, just a “do you have your vaccine card?” that’s it. There was no server, we just walked up to the same man at the front door to put our order in.

I ordered the cucumber mojito, there was barley any mint in it & it honestly tasted more like lime than anything else. The food was very bland. I ordered the chicken & waffles, the waffle came out close to cold. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside but still bland, the hot sauce was basically the seasoning. The inside of the chicken wings were slime like and it was just not good, I didn’t even finish one out of two. The vegetarian sandwich was actually decent, the veggies did most of the work when it came to the flavors, the sauce was okay. The fries for the side tasted like they were from the day before.
The bathroom is shared with the the flower business and it’s really out of date. Only one sink & one knob worked????

Overall, I don’t think it’s worth the $50 price or hype, whatsoever, and there were only 2 of us eating. I was really looking forward to eating at this establishment. Especially since it’s Black owned. Honestly, one star is specifically because of that & I’d like to see it improve. Best of luck!

I don’t usually post bad reviews because I’ve never had one of those experiences with food. However, I had to share my take on this place for anyone that’s thinking of having brunch at this location. The guy who checked us in was friendly and so was our waiter who served us. I’m not complaining about the service rather the quality of what I ate which was chicken and waffles. I am big fan of chicken and waffles and I’ve eaten at different breakfast restaurants that has the option of waffles+chicken. I never had a problem with my taste buds reacting to chicken the way I did at Poppy+Rose. I’m not sure where and how fresh their chicken is because it doesn’t have any flavor or seasoning. Actually, the chicken had a weird flavor not the crispy, or juicy kind rather like dirty chicken. I don’t know what is a dirty chicken but it tasted horrible. As for the waffles eliminated that smell in my mouth that I thought was probably my breath or something I had eaten before. But I wasn’t the only one who tasted the same flavor. My friend also complained about the taste. For that reason I don’t recommend the chicken and waffles 1) being poor quality and 2) overpriced for just a wing and a breast with 2 waffles and Welch jam + butter cream. The iced tea was okay (tasted like tap water) but their coffee was just right (creamy and sweet). I’ll update my review on the second visit!

Stumbled into this hidden food gem, exploring the flower mart and fashion districts… The service, menu, and presentation is outstanding..!!! What a pleasant surprise just as we realized we needed a bite to eat in the middle of our shopping adventure..!!! Pictured is the generous portion everything bagel with lox , cream cheese , cilantro and capers… a bottle of chilled supreme filtered water, and a delicious fruit bowl inside a coconut shell…

The food was very good especially the cocktails since I got a few. I do appreciate the lighter options they offered like the acai bowl or lox bagel. The Lavender Spritzer was delicious as well as the Poppy Margarita. But the Poppy Margarita didn't seem like the drink in the descriptions. It tasted more like strawberries. I tried to see if it matched the flavor profile in the menu but couldn't find it. So it seemed like a completely new drink. However, not complaining since it was my favorite cocktail drink out of the two I got.
