This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. Especially in LA. I mean everything was perfect. Everything came out super fast, everyone was so nice, it was clean and the overall vibe of the place was amazing. If your thinking about going here, you NEED to. The best sushi I have tasted.

Hard pass. They likely remain busy due to Happy Hour and Groupon ($70 for $200). But the food quality is NOT there unfortunately. Also, we made reservations for party of 4 and when we arrived it was empty. The hostess rudely told us we need fo wait for a table to open up. Why have reservations ? I've never seen a more lost hostess than this one. Truly adds no value here. Our server( Hispanic male w a beard ) was amazing. Tipped him very well and we enjoyed his hard work and rapport. Sadly it was too little too late. Once the old sushi started hitting the table we couldn't believe what we were getting versus the cost. The overall ruse here is "lets price the sushi high and make you think it's quality. Than discount it so much you'll have to come."

It's a 2.5.

Food is sadly medicore. The sushi was on par w somethinf I can get from my local supermarket. It tasted good but nothing above average at all.
The sashimi was an embarrassing dish w old cuts of sashimi. I was saddened to eat this $42 plate. Food here is unreasonably high costing but quality is so so low !

Cons
-Hostess is insanely inept and just flat-out rude. Zero personality or brains
-Sushi is decent..not great

Pros
-Our server was divine. Amazing service
-we used the Groupon for everything we ate
- Nice views

What a wonderful experience we had! The views are fantastic, very friendly staff all around (even when we showed up early they accommodated us!) And the food was all so delicious!

This is a modern Japanese restaurant located on the 21st floor of an office building in DTLA. All seats have nice view of the LA downtown, but the view is a bit obstructed by taller buildings. The food was nice. I especially like the soft shell crab and the molten chocolate yuzu cake. The sushi and sashimi were fresh as well. However the service was slow, and we had to wait for 15+ min for our second round of food. Despite noting birthday celebration in the reservation, the waiter wasn't aware of that and we had to ask them to put a candle on the dessert. It was nice that they ended up giving us the dessert for free.

This is a good place to eat if you're in the area. The food was good. Those lamb chops and that sauce were amazing. If you're on a budget this might not be the place for you. I would definitely come back again

Very nice views and that’s what you’re paying for. The sushi was decent but not as good as sugarfish and for the price you would expect more. Our waiter was nice and attentive but didn’t have knowledge on the sushi, he couldn’t tell us what fish was what on our takami platter which I thought was weird. I would come back for cocktails/happy hour and to enjoy the view but the sushi is nothing to write home about.

Probably my top five sushi spots in downtown Los Angeles. Excellent customer service and the food quality is up there.

The bar side is my favorite chill spot with real cool/awesome bar tenders. I recommend the calamari, stuffed pepper, churro waffle, their hand rolls and most of their menu. The scallops is great, hand rolls and most of the menu.

Reservation recommended to avoid the longer waits, but the bar side might be a better bet if you’re just a walk in.

A upscale high end Japanese restaurant on the 21st floor of a building in DTLA. The location is stunning. The views are amazing. Great view of downtown LA. The food is really good. I had the seared tuna. It was perfectly cooked and had good flavor. The dipping sauce was yummy. A creamy sauce. The only thing, the rice was really bland. The sushi was yummy, as well. The service was prompt and friendly. The price for food and drinks is as expected for a high end DTLA restaurant. They have 22 once asain beers for $12, which isn't to bad. It's a good date night restaurant or good starting spot for a night in downtown.

Great to know Takami is still as fantastic as I recall. The tacos were super light and delicious, the "21st st. Roll" was really tasty treat, both are must haves. Char from the grill for the veggie robatas added some great depth and make sure to get the black truffle sauce with it. Sea Bass was really good. And thank God for RC, the best mixologist in LA. Cocktails are amazing and make sure to ask for a "Time & Place" shot. You'll be in for a really fun treat. "Gold Shorts" secret menu cocktail is also a must.
