We went there Monday evening at about 10:00 pm (3/21/22) - so I Imagine close to their closing.

We stood at the bar and received no acknowledgement from the bar staff (of two it appeared), who were, while busy mixing for the other (very few) patrons nevertheless completely avoiding any semblance of welcoming. It is pretty standard custom to make at least eye contact or give an hello ("Good evening! We will be right with you") - as the multi-tasking of making drinks and being hospitable isn't a tough call. Another couple people walked in to the same effect.

We would not tolerate staff (nor have had to ) at any establishment in which there is no acknowledgement after a FULL 10 minutes while these yahoos floundered around flaunting their rudeness. If it is too close to closing then reconsider the hours. If the customers aren't in your wheelhouse of attraction or creed, or weight or looks or any other aspect then consider getting another job.

However, if it is a policy of that place to emit "casual practiced too school for school aloofness" then I doubt they have the staying power. We happily strolled to LaLa's and spent our $250 there. Better cuts of meat anyway.

As a Brit visiting LA for the first time, sitting outside in the rain with a good pint and a plate of fish and chips was quite ironic but made me feel right at home! Great place to sit and take in the magic that is Melrose. Special thanks for our server for going above and beyond (and letting us know about the happy hour)!

Friendly staff and customers. Welcomed a Buffalo NY books fan in to watch the elite 8. Had a few beverages and enjoyed the ambiance of an upscale sportsbar with on point bartenders. Highly recommend!

Love this chill place. Great food, great drinks. Nice chill crowd. What I like most is the dog friendly outdoor setting. And if you are dining aline and your pooch can't be left alone or you worry someone will snatch them....take em to the bathroom. The potato beef pie is amazing. My favorite ite.

We picked this place by looking at the reviews. Big disappointment!! We picked the most popular food items on the menu to be safe, all of them were very bad. We got chicken wings, Brussels sprouts and burger. Chicken was cold/ half warmed up, Brussel sprout was grisy, burger was made out of the worst quality burger patty ever. It was like rubber. Don't fall for the reviews. This was a bad choice!

I have been coming here for 10 years and it's still a great spot. Fish and chips is great, so is the fish sandwich and burger.

Drinks are awesome too. Highly recommend if you are looking for a British like pub thats maybe a bit elevated for LA hipsters.

This is a proper English style pub. As such, they have Black and Tans with Guinness & Old Speckled Hen (instead of Harp) and half and half’s with Guinness & Cider. The fish and chips is great. The ambiance is great. Whoever was controlling the playlist, throwing out Beck, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and the like - kudos to you sir. This is a place to relax and chat with friends and a good one at that.

Genuinely very good food. I come here for the food more so than the drinks. But the drinks are also lovely. Favorite place on Melrose.

I've never had a lemonade that shook the Earth until I came here. The pub burger I got was also really good and the fries were the perfect kind of flaky. It was Saturday night and the staff was very courteous and while you can order while at a table through a QR code, I placed my order with the girl who sat me and she was very attentive and communicative. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting as well. The food menu options are more limited than I expected but I was very happy that I ate here.

Oops! Stumbled into the wrong place. ...We tried it (instead of an hour+ wait for another breakfast/ brunch place). Awesome find: THE VILLAGE IDIOT has great food and service, great music, shady indoor and outdoor seating. Everyone loves these 2 breakfast/ brunch options: Idiot's Hash or the Lemon Pancakes with fresh fruit on top.

Of course, since it is an authentic-feeling English pub, you will find all the classic English pub foods and drink.

For this part of L.A., there was more street parking (residential around the corner) and seating than most of the restaurants and bars in the area.

Worth the trip.
