Shady dark restaurant and bar. Beers on display are just displays because they don't have them. Bartenders are near by and come around when necessary. Not polite at all.
No atmosphere at all.

Food was good. Service was great. And the band.... the Big Bad Garage Band was amazing. 1st tues of every month.

The Barkley has been a hometown staple of Pasadena and it feels that way when you walk in. A tad run down, but perfectly homey and always welcoming. They have a great stream of bands constantly flowing through so you are hard pressed to find a night without some entertainment.
The food is on the higher end of bar food, simple, tasty and reasonably priced, so you don't need to eat before you head out to the bar.
Bring your friends, and share this little family with them and yours. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have been there many times but i was very disappointed by the music, bar tenders, and no mask wearing. The drinks were not served as before.....

Great service and great drinks. I live across the street and come every couple weeks, always feel welcome and over all just a very relaxed place to have a drink.

The customer service was great. The bartender was very friendly and welcoming. The food, not so much. I had the fried fish sandwich with onion rings. The fish didn't have much flavor, I even tried to add tartar sauce and buffalo sauce. Still didn't help. The onion rings were good. My husband had the steak quesadilla. The flavor wasn't there, very bland. The french fries were warm, not hot, so that didn't help. I had a margarita, not tasty, at all.????
They have live music in the evenings, but we didn't experience that as it was 5:30 PM. ????
They are a cash only business. They don't take credit cards.
We wanted to support a black-owned business. Unfortunately, we're not encouraged to return.

Bar tender was super cool and knew his biz very well. Location is layed back and the music was good. Small local's hang out spot when you want to get away from the larger fancy watering holes nearby.

I have not been to the Barkley maybe since Roger passed. We had to go to the vet next door and thought we'd give it a try.
It was good. Good enough that I would go back.
It might not be for everyone and I have read some negative reviews but I still like it..
