La Tuna Canyon Park Reviews

This is a decent hiking area with close proximity to LA. I stuck with the La Tuna Canyon Loop but there’s lots of trail options all around. Watch out for some steep sections and the recent rains eroded some sections - sticking with the main road is probably the best option until repairs are done. There were a moderate number of other hikers and mountain bikers. Seems like a popular spot for the nearby neighborhoods. Lots of dogs!

The mountain trail is challenging. It takes around 25-50 min depending on how fast and conditioned you are. It’s about 6 miles round trip. If you’re not up for the mountain trail, you can take the easier trail.

There are some crazy hills! We went up the longer (but easier) way and took some short cuts on some very steep hills. Hiking boots with great grips and hiking poles recommended for said steep hills.

I love la tuna hike. There's an easy and a hard (steep incline) way to go about it. We used to live closeby when it got hit by a fire and it was incredibly sad to see it all burned but after a covid break we are happy to be back and see it all green. One of the favorite hikes suitable for all ages or even a bike ride.

The challenge of several uphill grades and the reward of a downhill return coupled with trees and views will keep bringing me back. So much better than a treadmill.

I did an easy mountain bike ride up the La Tuna Canyon fire road. Mid week it was farley deserted. From the parking lot to the top was a little over 3.5 miles and 1700 feet of climbing. So not an easy walk. Lots of views into La Canada and from the top down into Burbank.

If you're into hiking, whether you are a beginner or an Intermediate hiker you will love this trail. It's a steay climb to the top by the towers. You can hike to Burbank on the right or hike to Glendale to the left and end up in Brand Park.
