Excellent class/facility - good place to come especially if you're a noob or you want a refresher course. The instructors review everything you need to know, including the four universal gun safety rules and 13 more that you should follow. They take their time, they are patient and the facility is well run. The emphasis is on safety and proper procedure. I appreciate that because it's what will make your day enjoyable and everybody goes home without incident. They offer DOJ certification. Dave with ShootSoCal is one of the most honest, knowledgeable, and hard working individuals you will ever meet. You are in good hands when you call ShootSoCal.
First, I contacted SSC in March 2020 looking for a pistol. When there were lines out the door at other places, I called SSC, made an appointment, and they got me in within an hour. He administered and approved my Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) and set me up with a quality handgun, a CZ SP-01.
Then he finds ammo for me during a nationwide shortage, maintains fair pricing, and gives me concise and prompt updates as to the status of my purchase/background. It was truly a great experience.
Lastly, Dave is a home dealer, which has some unique benefits. One pro of this is his low overhead cost to operate, and in turn very competitive prices on weapons and ammo. I searched online and at local shops and SSC had everyone beat by $25 to $75. Also, he is located just inside Orange County and if you are buying thousands of dollars worth of gear, you will save more money with the lower sales tax in OC.
Additionally, Dave accepts every form of payment you would usually see at a store, plus Venmo! I also enjoy the flexible hours and the ability to communicate via text. Think about that... if you are an active sportsman, having the ability to communicate with an honest, licensed FFL is incredibly convenient.
SSC also offers a variety of different range classes for first-time beginners to seasoned veterans. They even can cerakote your firearms in whatever color you want. So many services they offer, just give them a call and they will get you going in the right direction.
Seriously, Dave and his team were great on every level. I look forward to working with them with all my future firearm needs.

French guy visiting US I was looking for a first experience and training in pistol use, and not simply shooting. I'm glad I got in touch with Dave. True firearms professional, he is both a top precision shoot and a good teacher.
And he also provided to my request to have an introduction with long range rifle. I highly recommend Dave for this king of experience but also to those more experienced and looking for higher level training in firearm use and precision shooting.
And the range where he took me, open air, is also really good.

I had this training with my girlfriend and Dave as our instructor. We never held a gun before, let alone shoot it. But Dave made us both feel very relaxed and gives you all the time you need to make yourself feel comfortable holding and firing a gun.
Also the different guns he brings with him are great. He even let us try the sniper, which was so powerfull and precise.
He’s a great instructor and I’d recommend him to anyone who wants to get a better shooter.
Thanks for having us Dave and if we’re ever going back to California we’ll contact you and do another training!!

We had a great time at the range with Dave. He is very patient and good at providing practical explanations. My wife was a bit uncomfortable at a point due to the noise at the range but Dave convinced her to continue, and she actually enjoyed shooting! Recommended

My husband and I took lessons together. My hubby had never fired a gun and I’ve done some shooting but still a beginner. We met Dave at the range and we got right to work. Most of his time was spent with my husband, but that’s what I wanted so we could have a hobby to do together. However when I had challenges, Dave would promptly notice and engage with me to make corrections. His easy going nature and sense of humor put us both at ease. Plus, his practical approach really helped figure out what worked for us individually. We are looking forward to our next lesson!

Dave is a great instructor and has helped me and my buddies gain experience and knowledge in shooting sports. I've taken an individual class when I first took up shooting again about 7 months ago, as well as several group classes to get familiar with USPSA style shooting prior to doing it competitively. We all cannot recommend ShootSoCal enough! Whether you just want to express your 2nd amendment rights, take up a new and fun sport, or get serious and do some competitions -- Dave is the man!

Dave with shoot SoCal is the reason I have Become an avid shooter/ collector. I took a class with him when I bought my first fire arm over five years ago And since then my collection has grown as has my knowledge all thanks to Dave anytime I wanted to purchase a new fire arm I would ask his opinion first and then shortly there after I would take an instructional class with him on how to perfect the use of that fire arm Today I took yet another class with him and brought along three people that have never shot before and they went from not being able to hit a 2 x 3‘ piece of cardboard to having 2 inch groupings which is just a phenomenal thing to see in such a short period of time Dave has worked his magic again Thanks again shoot SoCal can’t wait until our next day at the range

My wife and I signed up for the 2 hour training with Dave. Dave provided awesome training. He has a great teaching gift. Hes very patient, reassuring, confident and has an ability to calm my wife's nerves and fear of firearms. At the start of training she was so nervous, hands sweating, very tense, shaking and missing the target. At the end of our two hour training she was relaxed and hitting the target every time. I would highly recommended Dave. You won't be disappointed. Looking forward to training again with him in two weeks.

Dave and Stephanie are super friendly, patient and knowledgeable!
Our accuracy improved a lot within only 30 minutes of training. He monitored closely the way we shoot, and corrected any improper stance, breathing and techniques.
Even if you just like to shoot for fun, it's definitely worth it to take the lesson. You will be amazed how good you can be!
