Los Angeles County Museum of Art Reviews

LACMA is definitely one of the best art museums in the US and certainly one of the very top in LA. I still think, in terms of art, the best museums to visit are LACMA and Norton Simon in Pasadena. It’s hard for me to say anything that’s not already been said about LACMA due to how famous it is and where it sits on Miracle Mile and Museum Row. The exhibits are constantly changing, it’s very well organized, extremely clean, and even though there are a lot of people on the grounds it never feels like any room is too crowded aside from a handful of certain famous pieces perhaps. $20 to enter and parking is provided on grounds although depending on the day and time of your visit you may be able to find street parking close.

I have been many times over the years and each time there is always something new to see and it seems they’re always doing some sort of expansion as well. There is a ton of square footage to cover so your visit can be as short or as long as you’d like. Everything is professionally done and informative; I highly recommend to any fan of art, museums, or anyone who wants to explore some of the best things Los Angeles has to offer.

One of the highlights of any visit to Los Angeles, LACMA is an excellent curator of modern art. You start of the third floor with their permanent collection of modern art and then travel down to floors two and one with their special exhibits, each unique and interesting. More special exhibits are on display in the second building. Don't miss the Ai Weiwei sculpture of the Chinese zodiac, the Levitated Mass sculpture, and Urban Lights (best experienced at night) outside as well. You have to purchase tickets in advance on the website. They do not sell them on site any more unless you are a reciprocal member or from outside the US.

Currently LACMA is undergoing massive rebuilding that is to be completed in 2024 but the museums is still worth a visit in the interim. You need to book tickets in advance on the internet.

I like to start my visit with a Sunny and yummy meal at Ray’s restaurant in the plaza. They museum is particularly agressive about rotating its collection so each visit is a joyous adventure.

I love it here and never miss an opportunity to visit!

One of our favorite beaches in socal! It has its own vibe. It’s so different than other beaches in socal in it’s on ways. Plenty of places to sit, chill, have family tea parties. Love it!!

I really enjoyed this museum.
Got tickets online. Check for student prices. Parking is underground paid take elevator to ground floor. Or metered by the road outside.

There is food at the restaurant on the first floor before you enter. W bar too and outdoor patio seating. Cheeseburger was not that good but expensive. Service was good tho.

Entrance on ground floor. Checks body temp, vax card, ticket qr code. Gives sticker for re entry place on shirt.

Inside 2nd floor was under renovation.
Lots to see in an hour or 2 hours. Clean bathrooms and water fountains.
Can't eat or drink inside but you can carry it. Backpacks were allowed but mist wear in front of body to prevent accidents.

Nice touch less doors ! W sensors.
Must wear mask inside.
Fun for kids on first floor.

I only give it 5 stars because they have a huge Picasso exhibit over a dozen works by him. But overall the museum is really small and not much displayed. The main exhibit I guess is the modern art section.

It's free during the week from 3pm to closing with LA county ID.

I went on Friday and they're open until 8pm. Proof of vaccination is required and LA county ID. There's also a temperature check and masks are required inside.

Free audio tours are available online.

A pretty cool lights display! This lights art installation is amazing and worth the visit to this place. It really lights up our spirits too! Only drawback is that you can never take a picture without any people walking amongst these lights, since this place is super popular and will have tons of people visiting it at any time of the day. But the best time to see this grandeur is after dark, once the lights are on and shining bright!!Pleasant afternoon visiting the modern and contemporary art. There is a hidden gem on the first floor literally behind closed doors. You will see two sets of old doors on the wall with an attendant nearby. You will be lit in and enter a bit of a time travel. Also, don't miss the live action transportation exhibit.Los Angeles's County Museum is beautiful place to enjoy an evening with the family. There's lots of places to stop and appreciate the art displayed. The park area is great to go on walks or have a picnic and enjoy the shied. The restroom as clean and well maintained as well as the park area.A well maintained museum with an easy to use ticket booking. I am impressed by their COVID precautions. I would love to revisit when more exhibits become available.Such a awesome experience! 2 side with one side having multiple.floors. suggest usi g the escalator to go to the top.floor and work way down. Staff was awesome in explaining some.of the art and ways to appreciate it more. It's connected to the academy museum but that's a separate charge. Parking is a little steep but it's the city. Buy the tickets online as you have to reserve a time slot.

A complete gem a museum. Always a delight. The Asian art pavilion is such a treasure. The stark bar is very fun too for coffee or a frozen rosé post-exhibitioning. Urban lights always a show stopper.

LACMA is an iconic museum in L.A with great exhibits.
I definitely recommend for everyone to visit it.
There is also nice restaurants outside of the museum in case you want to grab a bite to eat or a glass of wine.

Proof of vaccination required and checked at entrance. Ok a Monday afternoon, the number of visitors in the museums is not too many and was able to keep social distance. A lot of audio tour can now be listened on personal smartphone. Without using the public device.

The racing car art piece is special attractive to kids who likes cars. The last show of the day was 4pm when I visited.

Unmissable! Impeccable as always! Must buy tickets in advance, and bring covid vaccines certificate. Be prepared to spend 4+ hours here, starting from top to bottom.
The store was a little disappointing, too small and crowded. I love museum stores, yet missed this one in account of the huge line!

The first time was going, and it was for the Studio Ghibli exhibit. It's a beautiful place. There weren't any lines, but if there were, they were well prepared for it. I checked out a couple of other rooms, such as the backdrop exhibit, which was interesting, and I think I went to the main exhibit that was full of the academy associated things. All in all, a very welcomed experience. I suggest going for sure.

The large number of Picasso's works, and above all, the exhibition of Yoshitomo Nara, who used all the floors, was a masterpiece. When I visited, it was just on display for the Black American Portrait. Especially the work depicting Mr. Obama was wonderful. Currently, due to the influence of covid19, you cannot enter without a vaccination certificate.
