If you are into original Hollywood memorabilia from the Golden Age to the Present, this place is for you. Located in the historic Max Factor Art Deco Building off Hollywood Boulevard.

First time visiting the museum was back in November. The ticket guy was hilarious, they did ensure we had our masks on at entry. The museum had a lot of information at every display. There are several floors each with their own themes and it was really cool to see the props and costumes that were used in movies and to see the building where the Stars were. My favorite part was the horror movie section however.

OK for a rainy day. Cheap enough. Too much Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Pointer Sister's fashions, and TV Batman. Not enough of the classic Hollywood. Plenty of photographs of the older stars. Posters. A spooky display of Lily Tomlin as phone operator.

Great museum. The displays are packed with costumes, props, posters etc. Four floors of things to check out. The people there are very friendly and helpful. My mom is 92 and doesn't do stairs well. The gentleman who worked there took us up in a freight elevator, dropped us off and came back 20 minutes later to take us to the next floor. We saw the entire museum that way. Lots of fun!

This place is very cool. 4 floors of collections. The main floor focusing on "classic" Hollywood era & Max Factor makeup. Downstairs focuses on horror and thrillers. Lots of props, costumes, and artifacts. The Back to The Future exhibit is incredible - original props, scripts, costume pieces - all very cool stuff. If you're a fan of movies in general - check it out.

The museum is in the old Max Factor Cosmetics building and has three floors full of Hollywood artifacts, the largest Marilyn Monroe collection of memorabilia. The top floor has a Back To The Future exhibit and the Dungeon of Doom showcasing your favorite Hollywood Monsters, Mummies and Zombies.
I love this museum, it was so interesting and had so much to see and look at. It’s a bargain for only $15

Purchase tickets on line, they are not date or time specific.
Private parking lots range from $10-$50 be aware of rates.
Street metered parking is available if your patient.

Fine museum, but it's not as much for movie enthusiasts as I anticipated. An entire exhibit dedicated to the Pointer Sisters really makes me wonder who this was for.

The horror exhibit was really cool, but I was disappointed by the lack of classic movie props. Really in depth Back to the Future exhibit though, along with Batman '66 memorabilia.

Why 3 stars?

1) They do NOT answer emails but that is the only contact method they offer. I asked TWICE which "adjacent parking" offered reduced fees with validation. Finally found out after asking several lots that it was the one next to Mel's Diner.

2) I just stopped looking at the information cards at some point and started trying to enjoy myself. Most of the cards I looked at said "Screen Accurate Replica." I do not go to museums to see replicas. I go to gaze on the ACTUAL items. I want to see the Bat Phone that Adam West USED. I want to see the Jacket Michael J. Fox WORE. I can pay $5 to get into my local museum and see the actual petroglyphs, pottery, tools, arrow heads, etc. that have been excavated. I paid $15 a head to get in here to see movie set recreations and replica props. Once I stopped reading the information cards and just pretended everything was authentic it was better.

If you are in the area, then it might be worth visiting the Hollywood museum. The admission price is quite low. The museum is dated and most exhibits are from some very old movies. But, the museum doesn't bore you. The horror movie exhibits at the basement level are very interesting.
